Where we have accepted a claim for damage to your car and you drop your car off at the mechanic for repairs, we’ll cover the reasonable transport costs for you to return to work or home and back again to the mechanic to pick up your car when it’s been fixed.

If you replace your car with another one and tell us within 14 days of getting the replacement car, we can usually cover it under the same policy.
Loss or damage fire or theft No Yes Yes
If your car is stolen or damaged by fire and is a total loss we’ll pay you the amounts specified below:
  • Third Party Fire and Theft - market value of the car up to the Amount Covered
  • Everyday Plus - the Amount Covered
Accidental damage from other causes No No Yes
This covers accidental damage caused to your car if you or another driver is at fault.  If the car is a total loss, we’ll pay the Amount Covered.
New for old car replacement

If your new car is lost or damaged and we agree to pay your claim as a total loss, we will replace your car with a new one if
  • you are the first registered owner of your car which was purchased new in New Zealand (or you purchased your car as an ‘ex- demonstration’ model from a licensed motor dealer who was the first registered owner of the car); and
  • the loss or damage to your car was caused by an event that occurred less than one year from the date of original registration; and
  • it’s possible for us to supply or order a new car of the same make and model within 90 days of us deciding your car is a total loss or, if one isn’t available within that time, it’s possible to provide you with a new car that can reasonably be considered as a similar make or model to your car; and
  • anyone who financed your car provides us with written consent to settle in this way.
Damage by uninsured drivers

If your car is damaged by a driver who is uninsured, we’ll cover your repairs or pay you the amounts specified below
  • Third Party Property Damage – market value up to $5,000
  • Third Party, Fire and Theft Cover – market value of the car or the Amount Covered, up to $5,000, whichever is the lesser
  • Everyday Plus – amount covered
Personal property

When your car is damaged or stolen, we’ll also cover your personal effects like clothes, phone or laptop that you carry with you in the car if these are damaged or stolen in the same event.
Car hire after theft

If your car is stolen, we can arrange a hire car for up to 14 days to get you around while we manage your claim.
Locks and keys

If your car keys are stolen, we’ll replace them and cover the cost of recoding the locks of your car.

If your car is damaged or stolen, we’ll cover the costs for emergency repairs. If your car has been stolen or is unsafe to drive, we’ll cover the costs for emergency travel and if you’re far from home we’ll cover your accommodation.

You, or anyone you authorise to drive your car, are covered for your legal liability for loss or damage you cause to another person’s vehicle or their property.
Trailer cover

If your trailer is damaged or stolen while attached to your car during an event, we’ll cover the costs to repair or replace it up to the limit shown.
Roadside assistance (optional)

You get unlimited call outs for help with breakdowns, if you run out of fuel, need tyre changes, have a flat or faulty battery, or you’ve lost or locked in your keys. You’re also covered for afterhours recovery, overnight storage and towing your car to a repairer. You may have to pay for some materials or services.
Excess free windscreen (optional)

If the only damage to your car is the windscreen or window glass (including sun roof), we’ll cover the cost to repair or replace the windscreen or window glass (including sun roof) without you having to pay an excess. We’ll pay for 1 claim per policy year.
Hire car after an event (optional)

If we agree to pay your claim and your car can’t be safely driven or is being repaired, we’ll provide you with a hire car for up to 14 days. You can only make use of this benefit where you have a full licence and are 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.

If your car’s been stolen, this optional cover adds another 14 days to the 14 days you get with the ‘Hire car after theft’ benefit in your Everyday Plus cover to extend the car hire period while you find another car.
